How To Drip Feed Your Membership Site Course Content.

What is Drip Feeding?

Drip feeding releases course content to students over time instead of all at once. This keeps them engaged, prevents overwhelm, and ensures they progress through content in order.

Example: Instead of giving students all 10 modules on day 1, you release:

  • Module 1 on enrollment day
  • Module 2 after 7 days
  • Module 3 on February 1st
  • Module 4 only after they complete Module 3

Drip Feed Methods (What You Can Do)

MethodAvailable AtUse CaseExample
Day IntervalModules onlyRelease content based on days since enrollment"Unlock Module 2 after 7 days"
Specific DateModules onlyRelease content on a fixed calendar date"Unlock Module 3 on Feb 15, 2024"
Prerequisite LessonLessons onlyUnlock a lesson only after student completes a previous lesson"Unlock Lesson 5 only after completing Lesson 4"
Combine MethodsLessons onlyUse prerequisites + dates together"Unlock Lesson 3 after completing Lesson 2 AND after 5 days"

Important: Lesson-level drip feeds don't override module-level drip feeds. If a module is set to unlock on day 7, lessons inside that module also won't appear until day 7.

Drip feeding is essentially the process of scheduling the delivery of content to your members so that they don’t get all the content at once.

You can add drip feed in the module or in the lesson

PART 1: Set Up Drip Feed at the MODULE Level

STEP - 1

Click on the Drip Feed icon from the module settings, One can Add drip-feed settings to particular modules.

STEP - 2

Select the Drip feed method. There are two Drip Feed methods.

Method 1: Release by Day Interval
  1. Select "Day Interval"
  2. Enter the number of days (e.g., "7" means students get this module 7 days after enrollment)
  3. Click "Save" or "Update"

Example:

  • Module 1 = Day 0 (available immediately)
  • Module 2 = Day 7 (unlocks after 7 days)
  • Module 3 = Day 14 (unlocks after 14 days)

Method 2: Release on a Specific Date
  1. Select "Specific Date"
  2. Click on the date picker
  3. Choose the exact date when you want this module to unlock
  4. Click "Save" or "Update"

Example: All students get Module 2 on February 15, 2024, regardless of when they enrolled.

Dripfeed status

One can turn the Drip feed status to ON/OFF using these settings.

Once done with Dripfeed status settings, Click on the "Update" button to update the settings.

PART 2: Set Up Drip Feed at the LESSON Level

Steps to Add Drip Feed to a Lesson

1. Select the Lesson:

  • Navigate to the lesson where you want to add the drip feed.

2. Enable Drip Feed:

  • Click on the "Drip Feed" option for the selected lesson.
  • A popup will appear.

3. Configure Drip Feed Settings:

  • In the popup, you will see two options:
    1. Toggle On: Turn on the toggle switch to enable the drip feed.
    2. Select Prerequisite Lesson: Choose a lesson from the dropdown menu.

Note: The current lesson (Your Lesson Title) will be unlocked once the selected prerequisite lesson is completed.

What Students See When a Lesson is Locked

  • âś— Lesson appears greyed out or locked icon (?)
  • âś— Message: "Complete [Lesson Name] to unlock this lesson" or "Available on [Date]"
  • âś— Cannot access the lesson content until conditions are met

Real-World Scenarios

Scenario 1: Staggered Course Release

You want to release one module per week:

ModuleDrip Feed SettingWhen Students Get Access
Module 1: FoundationsDay 0Day 1 (immediately)
Module 2: IntermediateDay 7Day 8 (1 week later)
Module 3: AdvancedDay 14Day 15 (2 weeks later)

Setup:

  • Module 1: Day Interval = 0
  • Module 2: Day Interval = 7
  • Module 3: Day Interval = 14

Scenario 2: All Students Get Access on Launch Date

You're launching a certification program on March 1, 2024, and want all students to start together:

ModuleDrip Feed Setting
Module 1Specific Date = March 1, 2024
Module 2Specific Date = March 1, 2024
Module 3Specific Date = March 1, 2024

Setup: Use "Specific Date" for all modules. Every student sees all modules on March 1, regardless of when they enrolled.

Scenario 3: Enforce Lesson Order Before Moving Forward

You want students to complete lessons in order (no skipping):

Module Settings:

  • Module 1: Day Interval = 0 (available now)

Lesson Settings (within Module 1):

LessonPrerequisiteDrip Feed
Lesson 1NoneON (but no prerequisite—available immediately)
Lesson 2Lesson 1ON (only unlocks after Lesson 1 is done)
Lesson 3Lesson 2ON (only unlocks after Lesson 2 is done)

What happens:

  1. Student enrolls → Lesson 1 is available
  2. Student watches Lesson 1 and marks it complete → Lesson 2 unlocks
  3. Student watches Lesson 2 and marks it complete → Lesson 3 unlocks

Scenario 4: Combine Date + Prerequisites (Most Strict Control)

You want students to follow lesson order BUT also control when each lesson becomes available:

Lesson Settings:

LessonPrerequisiteSpecific DateBoth Conditions Must Be Met
Lesson 1NoneMarch 1Available March 1
Lesson 2Lesson 1March 8Available AFTER Lesson 1 is complete AND March 8 arrives
Lesson 3Lesson 2March 15Available AFTER Lesson 2 is complete AND March 15 arrives

Real scenario: A student completes Lesson 1 on March 5. They can't access Lesson 2 until March 8 (even though they finished the prerequisite early).

Important: What Happens When Students Enroll Late?

Scenario: You set up drip feed with day intervals:

  • Module 1: Day 0
  • Module 2: Day 7
  • Module 3: Day 14

A student enrolls on Day 10.

What they get:

  • âś“ Module 1: Available immediately (day 0 has passed)
  • âś“ Module 2: Available immediately (day 7 has passed)
  • âś— Module 3: Locked until Day 24 (14 days from THEIR enrollment date, not the course start date)

Key point: Day intervals are calculated from each student's enrollment date, not from when you created the course.
